CHESS… I think

A chess poem I wrote circa 2006, entitled exactly as with the inked pen:

“CHESS… I think”

A chequered board, timed obsession ticks

Shifting torso conveying thoughts dishevelled kicks

Here, there – oh I just don’t know

The opposite number hiding gleeful grins

Not long before the sweating King keels over lost

Resigned to an imaginary ‘civil’ war embossed

If only there could be a draw

But oh yes, I see now where I went wrong

It was in days afore, oh so long

When this seeming art took up to see beyond

Is more than jigsaw pieces surrounding throng.”
