“Jupiter at Night” [digital Art, 5th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
To produce this image shown above in under a couple of hours has pleased me artistically. Especially considering this is a 100% digital artwork. Hand drawn, digitally painted in about an hour.
I tidied a top-left detail from my Instagram image for ‘perfection’ reasons. This is the final version here on my blog.
On my Instagram page I wrote: “A recent NASA telescope is capturing phenomenal images of our Universe.
This is my interpretation of Jupiter produced in an hour and a half from a blank digital canvas.
“without – Original” [digital Abstract & words, 27th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Personal quote “btw “without” i promise that one word <bolded itself> ! i was just saving the file and was like, ‘what to goodness’, i couldn’t revert it ^^ i realised that is the Emin art happening 🎨 (i was drinking a nice red wine too) 🙊 anyway after that i knew the name for this piece.. “without“.. an artwork that chose its own name.”
True.
Let’s take a look at a fun Collage I made with different colour/stylistic versions:
“without – Landscape Collage” [digital Abstract & words, 27th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1980 x 1200 pixels.
It is best to view this Collage piece fullscreen [due to the condensed textual size], by clicking the image shown immediately above, whilst viewing on a computer if you can.
“without – Landscape Collage” features nine unique pieces of the original artwork “without”, an Abstract digitally hand painted and then overlay typed with selected words in Times New Roman. Produced using computer software with a standard mouse and keyboard.
It should be noted the bold typeface differential for the word “without” [visible in most versions in the Collage except for ‘Yellow’ top-right and ‘Antiquity’ mid-lower] is pure 100% chance.
Due to this unintended phenomenon I decided the piece had chosen it’s own title.. “without”. Whereby a bold typeface differential is part of the title itself.
The individual pieces are composed of an original digital abstract Oil painting with a complimentary blend of colours across different hues and style variances. Digital chalk is also hand drawn for the border of the inner-rectangle [the rectangular abstract an appreciation for a 1950’s art style]. Digital ink is used for the outer web-like lines to add interest.
Each artwork is composed of multiple layers using advanced professional painting techniques within a digital environment. Further detail is mostly my spontaneous doodling-a-design for fun.
The words were not carefully contrived in the complexity of thought. I merely wrote those words as I viewed the artwork, including the original words I had spontaneously typed from an earlier draft study for this piece.
“without – first draft Study” [digital Abstract & words, August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
“without – first draft Study” was produced before my second draft finished version, “without – Original” shown at the top of this blog article. You can see from the Study version I incorporated most of the words I spontaneously wrote whilst making the actual final piece.
The colour scheme is also fairly similar, including the green oil lines at the borders and central red rectangular abstract design.
The study had ‘something’ within it I wanted to ‘find’ as an artistic visual. These artworks form part of an idea for a series of Pop Art works I would like to produce with words in a Basquiat style inspiration.
Here are a few of my personal faves, beyond the Original:
“without – Family Tree” [digital Abstract & words, 27th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Entitled ‘Family Tree’ due to an affinity with a family tree I artistically made in middle school at aged ten or eleven years of age. The family tree I made began in the year 1902.
“without – Banknote” [digital Abstract & words, 27th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
‘Banknote’ so named due to the mind-bogglingly cool title <laughs head off emoji>.
SolarFlare features in the Collage to represent the Original, here:
“without – SolarFlare” [digital Abstract & words, 27th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
‘SolarFlare’ had that extra visual wow factor I like. In a conservational/climate change theme I felt the idea made sense to include centrally for the Collage. Bringing light and attention to the words I chose.
I am very happy with each individual digital piece.
“Abstract Geometric Lines #2 – Original in Red & Blue” [digital Pop Art, 26th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
There is a purposed obfuscation with the combination of digital paint layers in this work, and some of my other digital abstract pieces too. The idea is to allow the viewer to be enthralled by each painting. A softness to the shapes provides that visual experience.
I look for quality and uniqueness in my works.
Here is the Collage version:
“Abstract Geometric Lines #2 – Circles Collage” [digital Pop Art, 26th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 3264 x 3264 pixels.
“Abstract Geometric Lines #2 – Circles Collage” features nine unique pieces of my second original Abstract Geometric Lines digitally hand painted and drawn artwork produced using computer software with a standard mouse.
My thoughts have included heat maps as a thematic idea with these works. Different colours signifying natural elements or fauna, political differences perhaps, pseudo-geographics and resources in a very abstract way. Neither definitive or extricated.
Now for the GIF animation:
“Abstract Geometric Lines #2 – GIF animation” [digital Pop Art, 26th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1200 x 675 pixels.
Placing all these individual pieces together forms a beautiful animation. Probably one of my best animations as a uniformed work.
Let’s take a look at the central versions as seen in the Collage:
“Abstract Geometric Lines #2 – Mapped” [digital Pop Art, 26th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
‘Mapped’ [shown above] is totally cool huh <Heart Eyes emoji>.
“Abstract Geometric Lines #2 – Printed Money” [digital Pop Art, 26th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
With my works like ‘Printed Money’ [shown above] I get to choose the titles <Victory Hand emoji>.
Hoping you see my complex ideas within this ensemble. Pure chance, obviously. Especially as I am making this up as I go along. Believable though, isn’t it, considering climate change and conservation.
Upon making ‘Printed Money’ I could immediately see a visual simile to printed fiat currency.
“Abstract Geometric Lines #2 – Monochrome” [digital Pop Art, 26th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
‘Monochrome’ – microscopic organisms on a cellular level? Fossil fuels bubbling at the surface?
What do you think this piece is about.. to you personally? btw, whatever answer you derive, it’s correct! That is the beauty of art. You decide what it means to you. I classified this as Pop Art due to the populist themes, whereas of course the paint work is mostly abstract in construction.
Hope you have enjoyed this article as much as I have enjoyed writing this.. to you.
“Abstract Geometric Lines – Circles Collage” [25th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 3264 x 3264 pixels.
“Abstract Geometric Lines – Circles Collage” features nine unique pieces of my new original Abstract Geometric Lines digitally hand painted and drawn artwork produced using computer software with a standard mouse.
The individual pieces are composed of an original digital Oil painting with a complimentary blend of colours across different hues and style variances. Geometric lines are hand drawn in an overlay purely to heighten interest visually.
Each artwork is composed of multiple layers using advanced professional painting techniques within a digital environment.
Here is the GIF animation:
“Abstract Geometric Lines – GIF animation” [25th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1200 x 675 pixels [original GIF].
In this GIF animation there is an intended pause at the end of the colours sequence.
Let’s take a look at the Original:
“Abstract Geometric Lines – Original in Red & Yellow” [25th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
“Heated Planet – Abstract” [digital Abstract, 25th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
I am hoping I have achieved an emotion founded artwork in the abstract 1950’s style with this piece. As the viewer you decide if this visual has emotive feeling.
Professional, highly technical artmaking is involved in the production of this complex digital abstract piece.
Cellular Circles Candy #2 – Original in Blue, Red & Yellow” [digital Pop Art, 25th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Cellular Circles Candy #2 is more simplistic than #1, yet reminiscent of school mathematical counters. Of which I have a particular story from first school, one of the earliest obvious connections I had with art!
Here is the Collage version:
Cellular Circles Candy #2 – Nine Grid Collage” [digital Pop Art, 25th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 3264 x 3264 pixels.
These are super pretty aren’t they? Like those mathematical counters at school. You see, I loved a few of them so much. The beautiful designs on the counters were delicious to my young six or seven year old self.
One of my naughty school classmates pocketed a few. Something I know even a near-decade later from first school was part of his character. He was well known as one of the most pick-pocketing pocketers you ever might know.
Anyway with great rarity, for me, I pocketed a few too! Yes, we got into naughty trouble for that with our very nice teacher who was genuinely perplexed <I> personally had naughtily ‘acquired’ a counter or two myself. She was not perplexed by the other boy’s naughtiness. In fact, she seemed to rather expect it.
I was werry werry embarassed <red-faced emoji>.
I realise now the irresistible desire I had for art. Through my childhood – patterns, natural stones, textures, songs, nature.. anything arty greatly interested me.
Here is the unusual abstracted circles version:
“Cellular Circles Candy #2 – Abstracted” [digital Pop Art, 25th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
I do love this piece and all my Cellular Circles works.
“Cellular Circles Candy #1 – Original in Pink, Blue & Yellow” [digital Pop Art, 24th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Direct personal quote: “Goodness.. these new works 😍 i feel like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where i am the artist fine tuning art candy. definitely Hirst inspired with a Rothko flavour too.“
Here is the Collage version:
“Cellular Circles Candy #1 – Nine Grid Collage” [digital Pop Art, 24th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 3264 x 3264 pixels.
“Cellular Circles Candy #1 – Nine Grid Collage” features nine unique pieces of my original Cellular Circles digitally hand painted artwork produced using computer software with a standard mouse.
This was my first published version of Cellular Circles works. The individual pieces are composed of an original digital Oil painting with a complimentary blend of colours across different hues and style variances.
With Cellular Circles I did have the idea of examining samples in a circular or rectangular Petri dish!
Here are two of my favourite versions beyond the Original of course:
“Cellular Circles Candy #1 – Haute Noir” [digital Pop Art, 24th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
‘Haute Noir’ seems biologically cellular, a living artwork. This artwork required minute variances within the contrasting parameters. At least 325,500 possible alternative combinations to define these pieces.
Each artwork is composed of multiple layers using advanced professional painting techniques within a digital environment.
Next is my own personal favourite, ‘SolarScape’, here:
“Cellular Circles Candy #1 – SolarScape” [digital Pop Art, 24th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
These works must have been made in an art candy factory, since I almost cannot believe I made these. By publishing the individual pieces on my blog, you are able to see the intricate quality within each piece.
“Pop Art Geometric Oil & Lines – Circles Collage” [23rd/24th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 3264 x 3264 pixels.
“Pop Art Geometric Oil & Lines – Circles Collage” features nine unique pieces of my original ‘Pop Art Geometric Oil & Lines’ digitally hand painted and drawn artwork produced using computer software with a standard mouse.
This is my third published version of digital Geometric Lines works. The piece is composed of an original digital oil then randomly produced geometric lines throughout the canvas.
I utilised three professional Artists’ software packages to produce this work.
This series is part of my two earlier freehand drawn Geometric Lines works with ink pen since the experimentation with geometry in artistic form is clearly present.
Here is the GIF animation:
“Pop Art Geometric Oil & Lines – GIF Squares ” [23rd/24th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1000 x 560 pixels.
I would like to show you the original from where all the other pieces are derived, here:
“Pop Art Geometric Oil & Lines – Original in Blue/Green” [23rd/24th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
I would like to show you an earlier Pop Art Geometric Oil & Lines, here (unpublished until this page):
“Pop Art Geometric Oil & Lines – Seismic Waves #1” [23rd August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
I realise this one is kind of cool to be honest. For me, an artwork becomes something to be treasured for its uniqueness. That’s why I publish artworks, for each one to become an individual work that people, someone individually as a person will love.
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Square Collage” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 3264 x 3264 pixels.
For the second version of my digital Geometric Lines works this piece, shown above, is composed of an original randomly produced multiplication of ovally elliptical spirals in each grid. This series of works is part of my two earlier freehand drawn Geometric Lines #1 & #2 pieces with ink pen since the experimentation with geometry in artistic form is clearly present.
I made a fun GIF Collage too, here it is:
“Random Geometric Astronomy – GIF Collage” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1000 x 1000 pixels.
“Random Geometric Astronomy – GIF Collage” features nine Circles with the original Square version of my ‘Random Geometric Astronomy’ digitally hand drawn artwork produced using computer software with a standard mouse. I used four software packages in total to produce this GIF.
Next we have the awe-inspiring Nebula version here:
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Nebula” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Whilst I calibrated the tones and depth perception within this Nebula work I honestly felt I had produced something very special. The natural swirls of my digital lines give the sense of a moving Nebula in the Universe. A digital masterpiece amongst very good works.
Next image, I wanted to create monochromatic versions too.
Here is the first (not in Collage order):
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Sketched Threads” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Sketched Threads detail the pencil-like work, digitally produced within my Original (see *1 below).
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Raspberry Ripples” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
With “Random Geometric Astronomy – Raspberry Ripples” I think of ice cream, music and confectionary.
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Charcoal Threads” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
As pencils is to Sketched Threads then “Random Geometric Astronomy – Charcoal Threads” is the heftier dark tones mixed with a birds nest contrasting effect.
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Blue Green Threads” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Probably the most childlike work of this series? There is a definitive primitivism in some of these works. I love my work to appeal to younger art fans too, therefore this is a purposed style in doing just that.
Next is Red-Pink Magenta Threads:
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Red-Pink Magenta Threads” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Not exactly subtle this piece. “Random Geometric Astronomy – Red-Pink Magenta Threads” is supposed to add vibrant colour to the Collage, whilst being a fun piece.
With Molecular Nest, shown immediately below, there seems to be order restored to the chance mathematical symmetry. Molecular Nest created contrast for my Collage.
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Molecular Nest” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Immediately below is the Yellow Green Original:
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Yellow Green Original” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
[*1] After I made “Random Geometric Astronomy – Yellow Green Original” I knew my original work was now finished. The earlier red, blue, green lines I added needed something to balance the whole piece. Interestingly the colour yellow did this perfectly, harmonising the structure.
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Dappled Light” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Dappled Light” is one of approximately two or three pieces where I experimented with reducing the lines. Dappled Light could be the glimpse of a garden through a midday haze. I love this, I feel it’s art cool.
Let’s take a look at further highly artistic versions I made. These are, in my opinion, absolutely no less extraordinary than the versions included in my Collage:
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Textured Oil” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Textured Oil” might be cotton threads or oil brush textures.
Then take a look at Blue Complexity next:
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Blue Complexity” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Blue Complexity” is a bit artistically delicious isn’t it. Artists’ want to make the best contrasts, to appreciate colour definitions. This is a beautiful piece where the darker blue threads hint at rather than dominate the canvas.
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Mosaic Wave” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
“Random Geometric Astronomy – Mosaic Wave” – tell me you love this! It’s like a Starry Night to the eyes.
Finally, so you don’t miss the intricate beauty of my works, here is two close up details of Nebula and Mosaic Wave, two images below:
Close up detail of “Random Geometric Astronomy – Nebula” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Texture, colour, depth of space, everything.
Close up detail of “Random Geometric Astronomy – Mosaic Wave” [18th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
The close-up details really do show the quality of these lovely digital Geometric Lines works.
“Geometric Astronomy Versions in Nine Grid Collage” [15th/16th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, Landscape in 2550 x 1700 pixels.
“Geometric Astronomy Versions in Nine Grid Collage” features nine unique pieces of my original ‘Geometric Astronomy’ digitally hand drawn artwork produced using computer software with a standard mouse.
My artwork (in each grid) is composed of one continuous spiral meandering throughout the canvas with multiple complimentary random lines. I utilised three professional Artists’ software packages to produce this work.
Let’s take a look at each version bringing us to the Original version for the finale:
“Geometric Astronomy – Magenta” [15th/16th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, Landscape in 1920 x 1080 pixels.
“Geometric Astronomy – Magenta” sets the whole Collage piece as a wonderment to the eyes. It adds a softness and warmth to the artwork.
“Geometric Astronomy – Vivid Green Farground” [15th/16th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, Landscape in 1920 x 1080 pixels.
“Geometric Astronomy – Vivid Green Farground” has an ‘etched-like’ quality. The lines seem 3D, like brail. “brail up the sails” so to speak.
“Geometric Astronomy – Cyan” [15th/16th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, Landscape in 1920 x 1080 pixels.
“Geometric Astronomy – Cyan” is confounding to make sense of.
“Geometric Astronomy – Lime Green” [15th/16th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, Landscape in 1920 x 1080 pixels.
“Geometric Astronomy – Lime Green” has a mathematical quality. Do you feel this too? What do you think of?
“Geometric Astronomy – Universal Strands” [15th/16th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, Landscape in 1920 x 1080 pixels.
“Geometric Astronomy – Universal Strands” is the central piece. It’s strands seemingly ‘connect’ to the other pieces in the Collage. A pure chance occurrence.
“Geometric Astronomy – Red” [15th/16th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, Landscape in 1920 x 1080 pixels.
“Geometric Astronomy – Red” appears ink-pen like.
“Geometric Astronomy – Sketched” [15th/16th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, Landscape in 1920 x 1080 pixels.
“Geometric Astronomy – Sketched” looks almost hand drawn with pencils! It is hand drawn, yet entirely digitally.
“Geometric Astronomy – Vivid Yellow-Orange Farground” [15th/16th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, Landscape in 1920 x 1080 pixels.
“Geometric Astronomy – Vivid Yellow-Orange Farground” accentuates the lines brightly.
“Geometric Astronomy – Yellow Swish” [15th/16th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, Landscape in 1920 x 1080 pixels.
“Geometric Astronomy – Yellow Swish” is entitled to give the idea of solar system winds.
For the finale would you like to see the Original work for all these pieces?
Here it is:
“Geometric Astronomy – Original” [15th/16th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, Landscape in 1920 x 1080 pixels.
As you can see above, “Geometric Astronomy – Original” is a beautiful monochromatic and immensely complex piece. There is an order, a conformity to certain elements. It is mostly a spontaneous, chaotic-looking, random artwork. A doodle really, where the sum of all parts becomes the whole work. Like our Universe. Whilst I view this it reminds me of the intricacy I saw within the cross-sections and surfaces of meterorite rocks.
Rocks travelling through the distance of time with stories to tell.
Here is a personal quotation regarding my Collage:
“it was late. like 2300hrs on and i just wanted to make an artwork 🥺. i had tried a few ideas earlier in the day. one was quite good, although i prolly didnt realise it was something until after. so i started a new one, then did some versions of this for a collage. astronomy, molecular structure perhaps and just plain fun tbh as i drew very freely 🎨“
‘Original’ was produced by 2331hrs on 15th August. Multiple versions were created after 2331hrs having completed these by 0003hrs of 16th August. In all I made 14 different versions, carefully selecting nine for my grid montage. Collage was finished by 0034hrs on 16th August 2023.
Therefore my digital artworking process took approximately one and a half hours in total.
