Galaxies Reverberation #6

“Galaxies Reverberation #6” [29th May 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing in H , HB, 4B and 8B pencils with charcoal (s) (h) pencils for contrasted detailing, signed in black ink on A3 250g/m² mixed media paper, digitally edited artwork image  3834 x 2720 pixels.

This is a Galaxies drawing, including galactic reverberation 📢. This piece features accentuated charcoal galaxial swirl-eyes with astronomical physics calculations.

“Galaxies Reverberation #6” probably took about 20 minutes to make. I had some ideas for this piece, then spontaneously played with shapes whilst working the canvas. The simile of seismic waves as galactic spiralling circles is one of the thought processes in this work.

Simplistic physics lines feature in the underdrawing. As with some other artworks I produce, speed is an elemental force in the creation of my works. This even includes relaxed looking conservation pieces like Entrance to Wildflower Meadow or nature drawings like The Observant Squirrel.

Please enjoy these ‘galaxial-swirl eyes with astronomical physics calculations’.

Entrance to Wildflower Meadow

“Entrance to Wildflower Meadow” [23rd May 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing with H, HB, 4B and 8B pencils, signed in black ink on 280gsm 250mm x 300mm gesso primed canvas [pad], digitally edited image 3205 x 2709 pixels.

Entrance to Wildflower Meadow” was completed in three sketching/drawing sessions.  The first [sketching] session, without prior study, took one hour and fifteen minutes approximately.  The second [drawing] session took about fifteen minutes to tidy finer details and add further textural tones. The third and final fifteen-minute session made neat a few tree branches.

Afterwards I happily signed the artwork in black ink.

Here is a written quote, by me, describing the brief second drawing session “Oak trunk filled, oak definition leaves, trees defined including bark effect, dark tones for leaves added, defined left shadows on objects, defined some branches for contrast.”

One further quote in notating my thoughts “photo on 14th May, i knew it would make a good sketch composition, with the dappled light and full leaves 🌳”. The fullness of the leaves is referring to Spring. As I walked through the meadow that day I was in awe at how the field had changed from winter. Now with a full array of greens and yellow buttercups.

Nature is beautiful dear art readers.

This meadow’s field-fauna grows to rising grasses, buttercups, taller violet/purple harvest crops for hay. By the way, the hay harvest is featured in my earlier sketches, please click the link to see: Harvest from Wildflower Meadow and Harvest in Hay Meadow. Both sketches in the link feature the same field as “Entrance to Wildflower Meadow”, shown in my sketch above.

I am stood in Meadow Three [officially named Hay Meadow] in the composition for “Harvest from Wildflower Meadow”. “Harvest in Hay Meadow” is simply the title I gave the earlier artwork to explain what is happening in the field at that time. Although it is actually a harvest from Wildflower Meadow. Meadow Three [Hay Meadow] is also harvested for hay crop.

Here is the photograph for “Entrance to Wildflower Meadow”:

Galaxies Reverberation #3

“Galaxies Reverberation #3” [10th May 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing in charcoal (s) (m) (h) pencils with 8B detailing, signed in black ink on A3 250g/m² mixed media paper, digitally edited artwork image  3741 x 2704 pixels.

This is a Galaxies drawing, including galactic reverberation 📢.  This piece features accentuated charcoal galaxial-swirls with storm-eyes and interconnective umbilical cord-lines.

My latest Galaxies Reverberation (#3) piece, shown above, is somewhat da Vinci inspired in terms of a particular artwork. da Vinci’s interest in practising details of the human body along with a Dali-like surrealism is where this artwork is founded.

Please enjoy these ‘storm-eyes and interconnective umbilical cord-lines’.

Can you hear the jazz?

Can you hear the soul?

This artwork is 100% Jean-Michel Basquiat inspired. If you turn this piece upside-down you will see a pure chance discernible face.

As a fan of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s immensely emotive work, it’s art HaPpInEsS to me whenever my own work has glimpses of his time-honoured style.

Please enjoy these ‘accentuated charcoal galaxial-swirls with electronic coils and delineation cone-lines’ artworks.

Geometric Lines #1 and #2

“Geometric Lines #1” [12th/15th(signed) March 2021] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing with blue and black ink pens, signed in blue ink on 135gsm A4 sketch pad, digitally edited image 3000 X 3383 pixels.

I made the two artworks shown on this blog page sometime ago, March 2021. The idea is to recreate the Picasso flowing style, in my own way. Even now as I look at these two drawings, I immediately think of Picasso cubist works.

Picasso loved unusual perspectives, unique compositions and without doubt.. beautiful flowing lines. Curves, geometric shapes and contrasts. Picasso enjoyed an arrangement order, with an almost mathematical feel to his works at times.

Geometric Lines #1 (shown above) is made in Picasso style.  Two continuous curved lines cover the entire page in snaking movements.  Blue and black shading fills some curve blocks.  Whimsical seismic lines appear within other random curve blocks.  There is a geometric, lifelike quality to the artwork.

Please note this image includes a border due to the portrait ratio.

“Geometric Lines #2” [18th March 2021] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing with blue and black ink pens, signed in blue ink on 135gsm A4 sketch pad, digitally edited image [slightly cropped] 3000 x 3523 pixels.

Geometric Lines #2 is also made in Picasso style.  A continuous curved line covers the entire page in snaking movements.  Blue and black shading and squirls fill some curve blocks.  There is a geometric, mathematical quality to the artwork.

Please note this image includes a border due to the portrait ratio.

Interesting facts:

  • My two artworks on this page are the only two ‘Geometric Lines‘ works I liked. I tried making a few other Geometric pieces last March. They just didn’t have the quality of these two works.
  • There is a connection to climate change, natural resources, energy efficiency [electrical power], energy usage [consumption], atomic structure, cellular composition and micro-organisms within these pieces.

Here is an animated version in a grid Collage composed of nine artworks in circles and squares:

Scientifically Inspired Artworks

“Nucleic DNA S Curve” [26th April 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing with H, HB, 4B and 8B pencils, signed in black ink on 280gsm 250mm x 300mm gesso primed canvas [pad], digitally edited image 3292 x 2798 pixels.

“Nucleic DNA S Curve” is Unfathomable.

“Physics Lines #1 – Original” [28th April 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing with H, HB, 4B and 8B pencils, signed in black ink on 280gsm 250mm x 300mm gesso primed canvas [pad], digitally edited image 3318 x 2889 pixels.

#1 Original of Physics Lines is one of three artworks derived from the same drawing.  #1 Original is a physical canvas drawing and a digital version too.  #1 Original is produced through multiple individual pencil lines carefully placed upon the canvas at different angles.  Triangular lines feature too, as single pencil strokes.  Finally, circular motions upon the canvas are made using index finger swirls.

“Physics Lines #3 – Sepia” [28th April 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, original drawing with H, HB, 4B and 8B pencils, signed in black ink on 280gsm 250mm x 300mm gesso primed canvas [pad], digitally edited image 3318 x 2889 pixels.

#3 Sepia of Physics Lines is one of three artworks derived from the same drawing.  This artwork is a digital piece only in Sepia style.  The idea is to represent a moment in time human beings can look at, physically, of the past.

“Physics Lines #2 – Waves” [28th April 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, original drawing with H, HB, 4B and 8B pencils, signed in black ink on 280gsm 250mm x 300mm gesso primed canvas [pad], digitally edited image 3318 x 2889 pixels.

#2 Waves of Physics Lines is one of three artworks derived from the same drawing.  This artwork is a digital piece only in Waves style.  Waves represent the flow of time in this artwork.

“Physics Lines #5 – Simplified” [1st May 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing with HB, 4B and 8B pencils, signed in black ink on 280gsm 250mm x 300mm gesso primed canvas [pad], digitally edited image 3246 x 2776 pixels.

#5 Simplified of Physics Lines is the second signed drawing amongst my Physics Lines artworks.  #5 Simplified is a physical canvas drawing and the digital version shown in this image too.  #5 Simplified is produced through multiple individual pencil lines carefully placed upon the canvas at different angles.  Smudging at certain angles produce the wider feathered-comet lines you see in the photograph.

#5 Simplified allows art viewers to gain an understanding as to how my Physics Lines artworks are made.  This artwork includes the definitive use of [canvas] space to maximise the accentuated beauty of the Physics Lines.

“Physics Lines #6 – Simplified” [4th May 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing with HB and 6B pencils, signed in black ink on 280gsm 250mm x 300mm gesso primed canvas [pad], digitally edited image 3320 x 2854 pixels.

#6 Simplified of Physics Lines is the third signed drawing amongst my Physics Lines series of artworks, beyond the inspiration found in ‘Nucleic DNA S Curve‘.

Here is a direct quotation by me, unedited, explaining the thoughts behind my Physics Lines works:

“i was thinking of stars, electrons, nuclei, light, even as i worked on the canvas. when i tried to do a meteorite style, idk if it was successful (an earlier artwork). This new work prolly looks nicer. a larger canvas would look incredible because i thought of a method for this working style, a pottery wheel. varying the dark lines will add greater depth too. i turned the canvas many times to make physics lines. the preciseness is the compositional structure.”

  • Please note the ‘new work’ mentioned in the quotation refers to “Physics Lines #1 – Original” [28th April 2022].
“Physics Lines #7” [4th May 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing with HB and 2B pencils, signed in black ink on 280gsm 250mm x 300mm gesso primed canvas [pad], digitally edited image 3307 x 2823 pixels.

“Physics Lines #7” [shown immediately above] is made using a wash upon the canvas. Triangular lines also feature. There is emotional feel within this artwork, whilst the lines are harsher and less defined.

The wash [a technique I use to draw moisture across the canvas] produces a softer artwork visually. Almost ‘magnified cellular’ in appearance.

An interesting fact is that I did not have my usual 4B and 8B pencils available to make Physics Lines #6 and #7.

“Physics Lines #8 – Simplified” [11th May 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing with H, HB, 4B and 8B pencils with charcoal (h) detailing, signed in black ink on 280gsm 250mm x 300mm gesso primed canvas [pad], digitally edited image 7021 x 6042 pixels.

The eighth artwork of my Physics Lines series is shown immediately above.

“Wars, Oceans and Constellations”

“Wars, Oceans and Constellations” [22nd April 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing with H, HB, 4B and 8B pencils, signed in black ink on 280gsm 250mm x 300mm gesso primed canvas [pad], digitally edited image 3385 x 2941 pixels.

With thoughts mired upon wars, Earth’s oceans and the Constellations, I drew this spontaneously without any planning.  The idea of tribal art within this abstract.

A shield of eyes looking everywhere.

Please note The Unfathomable Artist represents art in non-political, impartial, neutral ways.  The humanitarian element is most important.

Curved Tree at Wren’s Nest Pond

“Curved Tree at Wren’s Nest Pond – original” [14th March 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing with H, HB, 4B and 8B pencils, unsigned on 280gsm 250mm x 300mm gesso primed canvas [pad], digitally edited image 3317 x 2817 pixels.

“Curved Tree at Wren’s Nest Pond – original” is the first of three artworks derived from an original photograph, quickly sketched in pencils.

The idea continues to bring attention to ‘charcoal trees’, simplified landscapes and barren soils through adverse manmade climate change.  Quite contrary to the Nature Reserve’s specific purpose of natural cultivation and habitat recycling.

Each artwork is digitally edited to produce representations for the purpose of conservation. ‘Original’ is an image of the actual sketched version, whilst the ’embossed’ and ‘gold’ versions are digital art pieces of the original [digitally imaged] artwork.

“Curved Tree at Wren’s Nest Pond – embossed” [14th March 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing with H, HB, 4B and 8B pencils, unsigned on 280gsm 250mm x 300mm gesso primed canvas [pad], digitally edited image 3210 x 2685 pixels.

Embossed utilised 100 block sized pixels in the photography software package I used to create this digital artwork.

“Curved Tree at Wren’s Nest Pond – gold” [14th March 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing with H, HB, 4B and 8B pencils, unsigned on 280gsm 250mm x 300mm gesso primed canvas [pad], digitally edited image 3317 x 2817 pixels.

‘Gold’ is created using adjustment Curves within the software package I used for this piece. This has connective ideas with the subject material, a curved tree. Interestingly, the waveform shape of the adjusted curve [in the software package] for this gold artwork is surprisingly similar to the shape of the focal curved tree you see in my sketch.

This is absolutely 100% pure chance.

My interest in global conservation and positive climate change is immensely important to me, as a person and artist.

I hope you love these three artworks.

Fossil Fuelled AI

“Fossil Fuelled AI” [18th February 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing with H, HB, 4B and 8B pencils, signed in black ink on 280gsm 250mm x 300mm gesso primed canvas [pad], digitally edited image 3520 x 3046 pixels.

My artwork, entitled “Fossil Fuelled AI”, is derived from 19th/20th Century classical books, animations, and movies. This started as a doodle, to become the drawing you see here over two drafts and two cold cups of tea.

The ‘electronics pop art’ is as if fossil-fuels-combustibles have kept EV’s buried in the ground far too long. All the electronics symbols are completely random and imagined.

The title for my artwork is a reference to greenwashing, which includes dispelling the effects of damaging air pollution over past decades.

By the way, I did drink both cold cups of tea 🙂

You can click here to see an earlier ‘electronics pop art’ piece I made, called type: The Unfathomable… Artist – Electronic Version.

Rusted Cart of the Nature Reserve

“Rusted Cart of the Nature Reserve” [11th/12th February 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, drawing with black ink, H, HB, 4B and 8B pencils, signed in black ink on 280gsm 250mm x 300mm gesso primed canvas [pad], digitally edited image 3468  x 2938 pixels.

My sketch above, “Rusted Cart of the Nature Reserve”, consists of approximately an hour-and-a-half to two hours of sketching/drawing work.

I took the photograph for the sketch composition earlier that first day, here it is:

“Rusted Cart of the Nature Reserve – photograph” [11th February 2022] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist.

This is a sketchy mood-style artwork rather than drawing out intricate details. The composition is kept as true as possible. Areas that looked like eyes, in my sketch, have become highlighted for effect.

Although whilst I was happily sketching to reference the shade and branches, I do believe the idea of eyes is correctly placed into the landscape.

This is a fun piece of art, I hope you enjoy.
