convenient tasty snacks

”convenient tasty snacks – Original in Yellow“ [digital Art, 27th November 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

As any Pop Art aficionado will know with my recent works since September 2023 I am drawing up my inner Basquiat inspiration.

These two blog articles wrote in July 2015 by me will show you my love for Jean-Michel’s works. You can always read these articles after this blog post. Articles shown in chronological order:

then:

”convenient tasty snacks – Original in Yellow“ shown above formed from one word.. ‘convenient’.

Convenient like the Earth growing an adundance of tasty foods we love to combine in sophisticated culinary ways to produce incredible meals and drinks.

I wanted to celebrate this in an artwork, Basquiat style.

Prior to making the artwork <past the midnight hour> I happily enjoyed a documentary on the engineering feat of the ‘South-to-North Water Diversion Project in China’.

For instance, Beijing has a population of twenty one million people! Just think about how much food and water is needed. The Earth is truly amazing.

Good engineering works by humans is also amazing.

”convenient tasty snacks – Solarscape“ [digital Art, 27th November 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

I did two further editions of my artwork, immediately above is ”convenient tasty snacks – Solarscape“. My solarscape versions always become vibrant, cool works on the digital canvas. To be honest I would love to see these in physical form, silkscreen prints would be wonderful.

Lastly I did a Monochrome version for a contrast between the colour editions, ”convenient tasty snacks – Monochrome“ is shown immediately below:

”convenient tasty snacks – Monochrome“ [digital Art, 27th November 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

With ”convenient tasty snacks – Monochrome“ it was quite difficult to balance the tones, whilst retaining the verbal messaging.

Some of the messaging I wish to explain is the inclusion of Roman numerals. This is purely a Picasso influence-idea in the work! I feel subconsciously I included the popular laughter word ‘KEKW’ to highlight the playfulness of my imagery.

Subsidy street is a reference to engineering in terms of safety for cities and also a connection to the modern phenomena of world economies spiralling into further debt.

The light seemingly blazing through the canvas in Monochrome is a direct simile to my much earlier work in 2012, shown here in a blog article of 2019:

This is my past paint artwork in burnt umber on paper I am referring to:

‘Matt’ [Playful Light Signature, June 2012], Oil on paper.

I shone a light through the paper then took the photograph.

Hope you are enjoying my artworks and the layers of ideas.

frontier³

”Frontier³“ [digital Art, 17th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

My artwork features complex layers of difficulties facing modern populations and culture.

I made three versions including the Original edition shown above.

Do humans in hierarchy ever learn from history?

– “Answers on a postcard from Space, please.”

”Frontier³ in Black & White“ [digital Art, 17th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”Frontier³ in Black & White“ is very legible.

”Frontier³ – SolarScape“ [digital Art, 17th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”Frontier³ – SolarScape“ includes additional editing to make the monochromatic and colourised contrasts stand out. ‘debt you pay’ was overlayed in red to differentiate from the ‘in Black & White’ version.

My series of humanitarian artworks in this style replicate ‘neon signs’ and digital ‘classroom/workshop demonstrations’ to get the messages across.

Every visual artist wishes to contribute to the betterment of society in some way. Whether this be humanitarian, cultural, local sociability or difficulties facing our modern world.

We live in a world of great inequality.

The question is, why?

The question is, how do we change that?

Propulsion

”Propulsion – Monochrome“ [digital Art, 13th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”Propulsion – Monochrome“ shows that an idea can be crafted into a beautiful art formation.

Here is the original artwork from where Monochrome is derived:

”Propulsion – Original“ [digital Art, 13th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

As you can see ”Propulsion – Original“ does not have the same mystery and believability as Monochrome. It required intricate digital editing for me to create these pieces.

I feel that ”Propulsion – Infrared“ once again has some credibility to the image:

”Propulsion – Infrared“ [digital Art, 13th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

To be honest “Propulsion” as an artwork mixes popular science-fiction with reality to bring us to the future.

Please enjoy.

Hawks & Sparrows

”Hawks & Sparrows – Original“ [digital Art, 10th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

All artists appreciate instantaneous inspiration whenever it arrives. Most of my ideas for this artwork occurred so quickly I immediately began to write these in readiness. You might notice the hawk and sparrows are obscured in the artwork.

I wish each viewer to interpret this artwork in their own way.

Here are the different versions for my artwork:

”Hawks & Sparrows – Black with White“ [digital Art, 10th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”Hawks & Sparrows – Black with White“ has the easiest readability to get the message across.

”Hawks & Sparrows – In Red Blood“ [digital Art, 10th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”Hawks & Sparrows – In Red Blood“ is a peace not war type of title with the idea that black and white signage represents racial, religious, cultural and geographical differences.

”Hawks & Sparrows – SolarScape“ [digital Art, 10th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”Hawks & Sparrows – SolarScape“ is pure pop art messaging with iconography.

”Hawks & Sparrows – Embossed“ [digital Art, 10th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”Hawks & Sparrows – Embossed“ gives the sense of oppression with psychological causes and effects arising. Of course, this is no justification for wanton, unlawful violence!

Merely an artwork communicating human interactions within a given realm of historical understanding and core set of circumstances.

“Newton ft²” in a fossil fuels “evil mechanotide”

”Newton ft² – Mud“ [digital Art, 4th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”Newton ft² – Mud“ makes us think of the Earth, landslides, crop damages, wildfires through manmade heatwaves and land pollution from manmade chemicals.

I let the Reader review the information provided in this artwork for their own research.

”evil mechanotide – Dangerous Gases Original“ [digital Art, 8th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

I decided to include two artworks in one blog.

”evil mechanotide – Dangerous Gases Original“ features the popular comic culture of brightly coloured noxious purple gases. Associated with evil intentions.

”Newton ft² – It’s in Black & White“ [digital Art, 4th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”Newton ft² – It’s in Black & White“ speaks of the air pollution, contracts to destroy the Earth’s beauty and scientific data explaining woeful news like the polar ice melting.

”evil mechanotide – SolarScape“ [digital Art, 8th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”evil mechanotide – SolarScape“ makes for heavily contrasting colours. Newspaper headlines look like cuttings.

”Newton ft² – International Press“ [digital Art, 4th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”Newton ft² – International Press“ builds on the idea of [digital] newspapers giving everyone information about climate damage. Encouraging nations to makes the necessary commitments and changes, then continue avidly to achieving them.

”evil mechanotide“ [digital Art, 8th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”evil mechanotide“ is a black and white version in a reverberation of ”Newton ft² – It’s in Black & White“.

”Newton ft² – Obliterated Minimalist“ [digital Art, 4th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”Newton ft² – Obliterated Minimalist“ highlights by its name the melting polar ice and how our Earth looks without its natural beauty.

”Newton ft² – SolarScape“ [digital Art, 4th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”Newton ft² – SolarScape“ again produces powerful contrasting colours to read the words as signs.

”Newton ft² – Original“ [digital Art, 4th October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”Newton ft² – Original“ artistically similar to the ‘Mud’ version with only slight colour difference in the lower left and the Newton ft² field area.

thirty seven hours

”thirty seven hours – Earth Resources version“ [digital Art, 2nd October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The title ‘thirty seven hours’ is based upon The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) average per person working hours per week for its member countries.

In researching the best language to communicate my artwork [shown above] I thought it a good idea to see what is generally accepted in modern societies as regards the number of working hours per week per adult person.

Throughout my research I found a disparagingly obvious difference between poor countries and technologically developed nations in terms of how many hours their citizens work per week in comparison.

My artwork is designed to communicate a reasonable working week to the world, through fairer employment conditions and fair trade.

Here we have the black and white version:

”thirty seven hours – It’s in Black & White“ [digital Art, 2nd October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

By fading out the words ‘BAD boss’ and ‘BAN CHILD labour’ the black and white version alludes to eradicating unethical commercial practices in a succinct way.

If you could see the streets of London at the turn of the 20th Century you would see similar working conditions to those we see in poorer countries today.

Progress in pay is relative.

Why?

We need to envisage that some technologically developed nations (TDN systems) are taking advantage of a poorer nations labour workforce. Obviously, I am not against the use of cheaper labour. Cheaper labour occurs as a result of national economic differences in ‘the cost of things’.

Singapore is considered more expensive (to reside in) than the UK, the UK is more expensive (to reside in) than Ghana. Utilising cheaper labour markets actually provides nations with valuable work.

The problem arises whenever TDN systems do not oversee/monitor (or blatantly overlook) FAIR pay structures for the workers of those nations considered poorer in terms of labour market cost. Based on the hypothesis that the TDN makes more profit.

This is clearly ethical morality for TDN companies to consider.

Fair trade encompasses a wide array of criteria. Workers pay, hours, holidays etc.

The term black and white version does have an ethnic element to this, in this instance. Undoubtedly a vast swathe of black and asian majorities are being exploited across multiple nations.

Here are the further versions including the Original shown immediately below:

”thirty seven hours – RED Writing Original version“ [digital Art, 2nd October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”thirty seven hours – RED Writing Original version“ is made to be particularly vibrant to hold the attention.

”thirty seven hours – Green with Black Signs“ [digital Art, 2nd October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”thirty seven hours – Green with Black Signs“ shows a red wall of greed. This is not intended whatsoever as a political message against red political parties (should anyone ever think so).

It is though intended to mean the blood cost of sweat and tears for workers facing the harsh reality of innumerable, unfair working hours, lack of holidays, fun time and fair conditions.

It should be noted that most all my working rights artistic messages centre strongly upon poorer nations rather than TDN’s.

”thirty seven hours – National Borders, Weekly Hours“ [digital Art, 2nd October 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

My artwork ”thirty seven hours – National Borders, Weekly Hours“ definitely has the idea of national boundaries. Commonly we see terrible differences between working rights from country to country with regards to working conditions and hours per week.

I hope my artworks inspire businesses, employers, nations and individuals to view the economic landscape much more fairly.

Thank you dear Readers.

This is ‘Brass Bullets’ version with the idea the circles are now ‘Erased’. The 120 number has literal meaning from a personal perspective in direct artistic idea with the circles in my artworks. ‘lost count’ also has literal meaning.

My humanitarian, climate change and conservation work has received much interest over the years.

I am different.

the “$seven trillion dollar question”

”$seven trillion dollar question – Original in Magenta & Yellow“ [digital Art, 26th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

‘Original in Magenta & Yellow’ is made for visual readability, like a neon, ancient sign of woes.

I made four awesome versions of “$seven trillion dollar question” with a further nine versions purely for a GIF animation.

”$seven trillion dollar question – Senseless Manmade Heatwaves version“ [digital Art, 26th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

‘Senseless Manmade Heatwaves version’ – the artwork appears scorched, burned and ruined to show the terrible environmentally damaging affects upon Earth.

”$seven trillion dollar question – CH4 CO2 NOx Pollution version“ [digital Art, 26th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

‘CH4 CO2 NOx Pollution version’ draws attention to the excessive release of noxious gases by manmade commercial activities irrefutably affecting global weather. Irrefutably since I have already prove its adverse affects through personal scholarly research.

My scientific findings were shared with international media.

”$seven trillion dollar question – Animalistically Branded Against Green version“ [digital Art, 26th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

‘Animalistically Branded Against Green version’ highlights negative commentary.

Here is the GIF animation:

”$seven trillion dollar question – GIF animation“ extols the idea of a global heatmap of planet Earth.

The name of the title ”$seven trillion dollar question” is taken from IMF (International Monetary Fund) research.

Here is an excerpt of their publicly available 2023 research paper into fossil fuels subsidies enclosed in brackets (I have included bold type for you to see the $7 trillion I am referring to in my artworks):

[ IMF Fossil Fuel Subsidies Data: 2023 Update

Author/Editor: Simon Black ; Antung A. Liu ; Ian W.H. Parry ; Nate Vernon

Publication Date: August 24, 2023

Disclaimer: IMF Working Papers describe research in progress by the author(s) and are published to elicit comments and to encourage debate. The views expressed in IMF Working Papers are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily represent the views of the IMF, its Executive Board, or IMF management.

Summary:

This paper provides a comprehensive global, regional, and country-level update of: (i) efficient fossil fuel prices to reflect supply and environmental costs; and (ii) subsidies implied by charging below efficient fuel prices. Globally, fossil fuel subsidies were $7 trillion in 2022 or 7.1 percent of GDP. Explicit subsidies (undercharging for supply costs) have more than doubled since 2020 but are still only 18 percent of the total subsidy, while nearly 60 percent is due to undercharging for global warming and local air pollution. Differences between efficient prices and retail fuel prices are large and pervasive, for example, 80 percent of global coal consumption was priced at below half of its efficient level in 2022. Full fossil fuel price reform would reduce global carbon dioxide emissions to an estimated 43 percent below baseline levels in 2030 (in line with keeping global warming to 1.5-2oC), while raising revenues worth 3.6 percent of global GDP and preventing 1.6 million local air pollution deaths per year. Accompanying spreadsheets provide detailed results for 170 countries. ]

$7 trillion = $7,000 billion!

For a perspective to compare $7trillion ($7,000 billion), the entire U.S. Department of Defense spending totalled circa $558.7 billion in 2022 (budget figures from the official D.o.D website).

Cells

”Cells – Blue Brain“ [alt+931, digital Art, 10th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

I made ten versions of ‘Cells’ due to a variety of colour (and one monochrome) combinations. The work is inspired of a particular past artist. I accomplished some of their style in these artworks.

I found the colour combinations so interesting I kept making new versions. Each artwork has its own quality where [I am certain] people will have their own personal favourite.

Believe me, I need to interpret my own artworks many times. Sometimes I know through prethought what I intended with an idea. Whilst I can clearly see some themes of my self in these pieces, the reason I wrote the individual words, I do not know. The words just arrived naturally to my mind as I wrote, without any preconceived idea to do so.

MΣ, cells, skin, spirit, soul, intestines, brain, heart and stomach.

To produce this image shown above in under a couple of hours has pleased me artistically. Especially considering this is a 100% digital artwork. Hand drawn, digitally painted in about an hour.

I tidied a top-left detail from my Instagram image for ‘perfection’ reasons. This is the final version here on my blog.

On my Instagram page I wrote:
