the “$seven trillion dollar question”

”$seven trillion dollar question – Original in Magenta & Yellow“ [digital Art, 26th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

‘Original in Magenta & Yellow’ is made for visual readability, like a neon, ancient sign of woes.

I made four awesome versions of “$seven trillion dollar question” with a further nine versions purely for a GIF animation.

”$seven trillion dollar question – Senseless Manmade Heatwaves version“ [digital Art, 26th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

‘Senseless Manmade Heatwaves version’ – the artwork appears scorched, burned and ruined to show the terrible environmentally damaging affects upon Earth.

”$seven trillion dollar question – CH4 CO2 NOx Pollution version“ [digital Art, 26th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

‘CH4 CO2 NOx Pollution version’ draws attention to the excessive release of noxious gases by manmade commercial activities irrefutably affecting global weather. Irrefutably since I have already prove its adverse affects through personal scholarly research.

My scientific findings were shared with international media.

”$seven trillion dollar question – Animalistically Branded Against Green version“ [digital Art, 26th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

‘Animalistically Branded Against Green version’ highlights negative commentary.

Here is the GIF animation:

”$seven trillion dollar question – GIF animation“ [digital Art, 26th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1200 x 672 pixels.

”$seven trillion dollar question – GIF animation“ extols the idea of a global heatmap of planet Earth.

The name of the title ”$seven trillion dollar question” is taken from IMF (International Monetary Fund) research.

Here is an excerpt of their publicly available 2023 research paper into fossil fuels subsidies enclosed in brackets (I have included bold type for you to see the $7 trillion I am referring to in my artworks):

[ IMF Fossil Fuel Subsidies Data: 2023 Update

Author/Editor: Simon Black ; Antung A. Liu ; Ian W.H. Parry ; Nate Vernon

Publication Date: August 24, 2023

Disclaimer: IMF Working Papers describe research in progress by the author(s) and are published to elicit comments and to encourage debate. The views expressed in IMF Working Papers are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily represent the views of the IMF, its Executive Board, or IMF management.

Summary:

This paper provides a comprehensive global, regional, and country-level update of: (i) efficient fossil fuel prices to reflect supply and environmental costs; and (ii) subsidies implied by charging below efficient fuel prices. Globally, fossil fuel subsidies were $7 trillion in 2022 or 7.1 percent of GDP. Explicit subsidies (undercharging for supply costs) have more than doubled since 2020 but are still only 18 percent of the total subsidy, while nearly 60 percent is due to undercharging for global warming and local air pollution. Differences between efficient prices and retail fuel prices are large and pervasive, for example, 80 percent of global coal consumption was priced at below half of its efficient level in 2022. Full fossil fuel price reform would reduce global carbon dioxide emissions to an estimated 43 percent below baseline levels in 2030 (in line with keeping global warming to 1.5-2oC), while raising revenues worth 3.6 percent of global GDP and preventing 1.6 million local air pollution deaths per year. Accompanying spreadsheets provide detailed results for 170 countries. ]

$7 trillion = $7,000 billion!

For a perspective to compare $7trillion ($7,000 billion), the entire U.S. Department of Defense spending totalled circa $558.7 billion in 2022 (budget figures from the official D.o.D website).

Saint, again

”Saint, again – Radiant” [digital Art, 12th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

I made four versions of “Saint, again”: ‘Radiant’, ‘Cool’, ‘Pure’ and ‘Pure Colour’.

The artwork is literally a spontaneous doodle. This represents a phenomena of unusual human experience rarely understood and vastly unknown.

”Saint, again – Cool” [digital Art, 12th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Stylistically ”Saint, again – Cool” has a likeness to ‘MΣ’, see artworks here:

”Saint, again – Pure” [digital Art, 12th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
”Saint, again – Pure Colour” [digital Art, 12th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

I also produced a fun two-frame animation due to an inadvertent correction whilst drawing, here:

”Saint, again – GIF Animation” [digital Art, 12th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Whilst drawing I had an ‘Emin’ moment. I alternated [digitally] between the two drawings and could see a fun animation opportunity. With the perceived sanctity of this artwork subject material (although clearly in a fun way), I just felt this was a naturally good piece of popular modern art of itself.

“Saint, again” is my exploration into a Basquiat style of my own.

There are complex ideas being communicated by this artwork. Most of these are highly personable to me.

Hope you enjoy.

Cells

”Cells – Blue Brain“ [alt+931, digital Art, 10th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

I made ten versions of ‘Cells’ due to a variety of colour (and one monochrome) combinations. The work is inspired of a particular past artist. I accomplished some of their style in these artworks.

I found the colour combinations so interesting I kept making new versions. Each artwork has its own quality where [I am certain] people will have their own personal favourite.

Believe me, I need to interpret my own artworks many times. Sometimes I know through prethought what I intended with an idea. Whilst I can clearly see some themes of my self in these pieces, the reason I wrote the individual words, I do not know. The words just arrived naturally to my mind as I wrote, without any preconceived idea to do so.

MΣ, cells, skin, spirit, soul, intestines, brain, heart and stomach.

”Cells – Green MΣ“ [alt+931, digital Art, 10th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

”Cells – Green MΣ“ featured on my social media, although I genuinely love all versions equally.

Here are the further versions for you:

”Cells – Grey MΣ“ [alt+931, digital Art, 10th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
”Cells – Purple Cells“ [alt+931, digital Art, 10th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
”Cells – Green Soul“ [alt+931, digital Art, 10th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
”Cells – Red MΣ with Red Skin“ [alt+931, digital Art, 10th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
”Cells – Blue Spirit“ [alt+931, digital Art, 10th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
”Cells – Swirly Lines MΣ“ [alt+931, digital Art, 10th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
”Cells – SolarScape MΣ“ [alt+931, digital Art, 10th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.
”Cells – Fun MΣ“ [alt+931, digital Art, 10th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

I hope you enjoy each piece.

mean toil³

”mean toil³ – Sweat & Blood“ [spoken as ‘mean toil cubed’ digital Art, 25th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

I made four versions of “mean toil³: ‘Sweat & Blood’, ‘Read All About It Typeface!’, ‘It’s in Black and White’ and ‘Neon Alarm Bells’. All artworks shown within this article.

Please click on each image to see these in further detail.

”mean toil³ – Read All About It Typeface“ [spoken as ‘mean toil cubed’ digital Art, 25th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

‘Read All About It Typeface’ is primarily yellow and green. This style has an etched quality to the words. You could read this as a simile to contracted hours with the idea of crying out and sobbing etc included in the contract. At least for now.

”mean toil³ – It’s In Black and White“ [spoken as ‘mean toil cubed’ digital Art, 25th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

‘It’s In Black and White’ is in monochrome with the titling purposely eluding to racial inequality within the workplace, globally. Of course, my message is to all employers around the world, not just specifically to any particular nation, culture or group of persons.

”mean toil³ – Neon Alarm Bells“ [spoken as ‘mean toil cubed’ digital Art, 25th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

‘Neon Alarm Bells’ aptly describes the bright colours to this artwork, for attention. The titling is an allusion to workers hours. The alarm is a siren for early mornings and late evenings in terms of unacceptable numbers of hours per day and/or per week.

I intend these artworks to make a difference, globally.

“Jupiter at Night”

“Jupiter at Night” [digital Art, 5th September 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

To produce this image shown above in under a couple of hours has pleased me artistically. Especially considering this is a 100% digital artwork. Hand drawn, digitally painted in about an hour.

I tidied a top-left detail from my Instagram image for ‘perfection’ reasons. This is the final version here on my blog.

On my Instagram page I wrote:
“A recent NASA telescope is capturing phenomenal images of our Universe.

This is my interpretation of Jupiter produced in an hour and a half from a blank digital canvas.

Pure chance.”

I love this artwork and hope you like.

“without”

without – Original” [digital Abstract & words, 27th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Personal quote “btw “without” i promise that one word <bolded itself> ! i was just saving the file and was like, ‘what to goodness’, i couldn’t revert it ^^ i realised that is the Emin art happening 🎨 (i was drinking a nice red wine too) 🙊 anyway after that i knew the name for this piece.. “without“.. an artwork that chose its own name.”

True.

Let’s take a look at a fun Collage I made with different colour/stylistic versions:

without – Landscape Collage” [digital Abstract & words, 27th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1980 x 1200 pixels.

It is best to view this Collage piece fullscreen [due to the condensed textual size], by clicking the image shown immediately above, whilst viewing on a computer if you can.

without – Landscape Collage” features nine unique pieces of the original artwork “without”, an Abstract digitally hand painted and then overlay typed with selected words in Times New Roman. Produced using computer software with a standard mouse and keyboard.

It should be noted the bold typeface differential for the word “without” [visible in most versions in the Collage except for ‘Yellow’ top-right and ‘Antiquity’ mid-lower] is pure 100% chance.

Due to this unintended phenomenon I decided the piece had chosen it’s own title.. “without”. Whereby a bold typeface differential is part of the title itself.

The individual pieces are composed of an original digital abstract Oil painting with a complimentary blend of colours across different hues and style variances. Digital chalk is also hand drawn for the border of the inner-rectangle [the rectangular abstract an appreciation for a 1950’s art style]. Digital ink is used for the outer web-like lines to add interest.

Each artwork is composed of multiple layers using advanced professional painting techniques within a digital environment. Further detail is mostly my spontaneous doodling-a-design for fun.

The words were not carefully contrived in the complexity of thought. I merely wrote those words as I viewed the artwork, including the original words I had spontaneously typed from an earlier draft study for this piece.

“without – first draft Study” [digital Abstract & words, August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

“without – first draft Study” was produced before my second draft finished version, “without – Original” shown at the top of this blog article. You can see from the Study version I incorporated most of the words I spontaneously wrote whilst making the actual final piece.

The colour scheme is also fairly similar, including the green oil lines at the borders and central red rectangular abstract design.

The study had ‘something’ within it I wanted to ‘find’ as an artistic visual. These artworks form part of an idea for a series of Pop Art works I would like to produce with words in a Basquiat style inspiration.

Here are a few of my personal faves, beyond the Original:

without – Family Tree” [digital Abstract & words, 27th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Entitled ‘Family Tree’ due to an affinity with a family tree I artistically made in middle school at aged ten or eleven years of age. The family tree I made began in the year 1902.

without – Banknote” [digital Abstract & words, 27th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

‘Banknote’ so named due to the mind-bogglingly cool title <laughs head off emoji>.

SolarFlare features in the Collage to represent the Original, here:

without – SolarFlare” [digital Abstract & words, 27th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

‘SolarFlare’ had that extra visual wow factor I like. In a conservational/climate change theme I felt the idea made sense to include centrally for the Collage. Bringing light and attention to the words I chose.

I am very happy with each individual digital piece.

Hope you enjoy.

Abstract Geometric Lines #2

“Abstract Geometric Lines #2 – Original in Red & Blue” [digital Pop Art, 26th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

There is a purposed obfuscation with the combination of digital paint layers in this work, and some of my other digital abstract pieces too. The idea is to allow the viewer to be enthralled by each painting. A softness to the shapes provides that visual experience.

I look for quality and uniqueness in my works.

Here is the Collage version:

“Abstract Geometric Lines #2 – Circles Collage” [digital Pop Art, 26th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 3264 x 3264 pixels.

“Abstract Geometric Lines #2 – Circles Collage” features nine unique pieces of my second original Abstract Geometric Lines digitally hand painted and drawn artwork produced using computer software with a standard mouse.

My thoughts have included heat maps as a thematic idea with these works. Different colours signifying natural elements or fauna, political differences perhaps, pseudo-geographics and resources in a very abstract way. Neither definitive or extricated.

Now for the GIF animation:

“Abstract Geometric Lines #2 – GIF animation” [digital Pop Art, 26th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1200 x 675 pixels.

Placing all these individual pieces together forms a beautiful animation. Probably one of my best animations as a uniformed work.

Let’s take a look at the central versions as seen in the Collage:

“Abstract Geometric Lines #2 – Mapped” [digital Pop Art, 26th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

‘Mapped’ [shown above] is totally cool huh <Heart Eyes emoji>.

“Abstract Geometric Lines #2 – Printed Money” [digital Pop Art, 26th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

With my works like ‘Printed Money’ [shown above] I get to choose the titles <Victory Hand emoji>.

Hoping you see my complex ideas within this ensemble. Pure chance, obviously. Especially as I am making this up as I go along. Believable though, isn’t it, considering climate change and conservation.

Upon making ‘Printed Money’ I could immediately see a visual simile to printed fiat currency.

“Abstract Geometric Lines #2 – Monochrome” [digital Pop Art, 26th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

‘Monochrome’ – microscopic organisms on a cellular level? Fossil fuels bubbling at the surface?

What do you think this piece is about.. to you personally? btw, whatever answer you derive, it’s correct! That is the beauty of art. You decide what it means to you. I classified this as Pop Art due to the populist themes, whereas of course the paint work is mostly abstract in construction.

Hope you have enjoyed this article as much as I have enjoyed writing this.. to you.

“Abstract Geometric Lines – Circles Collage”

“Abstract Geometric Lines – Circles Collage” [25th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 3264 x 3264 pixels.

“Abstract Geometric Lines – Circles Collage” features nine unique pieces of my new original Abstract Geometric Lines digitally hand painted and drawn artwork produced using computer software with a standard mouse.

The individual pieces are composed of an original digital Oil painting with a complimentary blend of colours across different hues and style variances. Geometric lines are hand drawn in an overlay purely to heighten interest visually.

Each artwork is composed of multiple layers using advanced professional painting techniques within a digital environment.

Here is the GIF animation:

“Abstract Geometric Lines – GIF animation” [25th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1200 x 675 pixels [original GIF].

In this GIF animation there is an intended pause at the end of the colours sequence.

Let’s take a look at the Original:

“Abstract Geometric Lines – Original in Red & Yellow” [25th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Red and Yellow colour schemes harken to my ‘Creative Mind’ oil painting, link here: “Creative Mind” article including fine details.

I love this particular contrasting quality, likely a reminder to sunrise and sunsets.

Some people might prefer this colour scheme:

Or perhaps no colour at all:

“Abstract Geometric Lines – Greyscale” [25th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Whatever you prefer, I do hope you love these pieces. Created to bring joy to your day.

Rothko Abstract inspiration – “Heated Planet”

“Heated Planet – Abstract” [digital Abstract, 25th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

I am hoping I have achieved an emotion founded artwork in the abstract 1950’s style with this piece. As the viewer you decide if this visual has emotive feeling.

Professional, highly technical artmaking is involved in the production of this complex digital abstract piece.

Please enjoy

Cellular Circles Candy #2

Cellular Circles Candy #2 – Original in Blue, Red & Yellow” [digital Pop Art, 25th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Cellular Circles Candy #2 is more simplistic than #1, yet reminiscent of school mathematical counters. Of which I have a particular story from first school, one of the earliest obvious connections I had with art!

Here is the Collage version:

Cellular Circles Candy #2 – Nine Grid Collage” [digital Pop Art, 25th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 3264 x 3264 pixels.

These are super pretty aren’t they? Like those mathematical counters at school. You see, I loved a few of them so much. The beautiful designs on the counters were delicious to my young six or seven year old self.

One of my naughty school classmates pocketed a few. Something I know even a near-decade later from first school was part of his character. He was well known as one of the most pick-pocketing pocketers you ever might know.

Anyway with great rarity, for me, I pocketed a few too! Yes, we got into naughty trouble for that with our very nice teacher who was genuinely perplexed <I> personally had naughtily ‘acquired’ a counter or two myself. She was not perplexed by the other boy’s naughtiness. In fact, she seemed to rather expect it.

I was werry werry embarassed <red-faced emoji>.

I realise now the irresistible desire I had for art. Through my childhood – patterns, natural stones, textures, songs, nature.. anything arty greatly interested me.

Here is the unusual abstracted circles version:

“Cellular Circles Candy #2 – Abstracted” [digital Pop Art, 25th August 2023] by Matt The Unfathomable Artist, 100% digital artwork, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

I do love this piece and all my Cellular Circles works.

Hope you enjoyed this article.
